The FASTCAM NOVA combines unique CMOS sensor technology with comprehensive expertise in high-speed digital imaging to provide a highly versatile camera. Available in four different models, the FASTCAM NOVA offers 12-bit recording at up to 16,000 frames per second at 1-megapixel resolution, with a maximum shutter speed of 0.2 microseconds. It can achieve recording speeds of up to 1,100,000 frames per second at reduced image resolutions.

Standard Features of FASTCAM NOVA

The FASTCAM NOVA includes an internal mechanical shutter that enables remote system calibration, a high-performance 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface for camera control and high-speed image download, and memory segmentation, allowing recording to one memory partition while downloading from another. The camera is also compatible with multiple industry-standard lens mounts, supporting Nikon G-Type, C-mount, and Canon EF lenses.

The sealed camera body design protects sensitive internal electronics from dust and corrosive particles. When used with the optional FAST Drive SSD, image data can be downloaded at speeds of up to 1 GB per second.


Each FASTCAM NOVA camera includes Photron FASTCAM Viewer (PFV) software — an intuitive, feature-rich application for easy camera operation and data management. In addition, the Photron Device Control SDK is available to enable integration with user-specific software, along with libraries for camera control within MATLAB® or LabVIEW environments.
